I directed the NT Live broadcast trailer of The Old Vic's and Headlong's co-production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons. I devised the concept in collaboration with the theatre creatives and the NT Live Marketing team.
Nothing compares to the visceral fizz of a live theatrical performance. Translating a production to the screen is therefore a huge challenge, but also hugely rewarding.
I am very proud to be one of the few people in the UK to have successfully bridged the creative worlds of theatre and cinema, in real time. And to have brought the very best of British theatre to cinema audiences from Australia to South Africa.
I am harnessing this experience, and my passion for making the arts more accessible to people everywhere, in my work as a multi-camera director for livestreaming cultural events.
NT Live is the National Theatre’s groundbreaking project to share world-class theatre with audiences in the UK and world-wide via cinema screens and online. Over the past decade, 9 million people around the world have watched a show broadcast by NT Live.
As senior producer of NT Live broadcasts, I collaborated with leading directors, actors, presenters, backstage crew and a fantastic technical team to ensure the successful live transmission of shows such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Small Island, and All My Sons. In addition to the live broadcasts, I also supervised a team of producers tasked with distilling the essence of each play into trailers, teasers and marketing content for social media.
